Sid was born in Carlisle, Pa. and raised in Mt. Holly Springs, Pa. He attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Sid now resides in Zelienople, Pa., with his wife, Michele and their children.
Sid signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in June of 1981. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1985. He became a Free Agent in 1991 and signed a 3-year contract with the Atlanta Braves. In 1994, he became a Free Agent again and signed with the Houston Astros. In 1995, he retired from baseball.
Sid played in four consecutive National League play-offs; one with Pittsburgh and three with the Braves. He has also played in 2 World Series, while playing with the Braves. Sid had many memorable moments, but the one that meant the most was scoring the winning run to send the Atlanta Braves to the 1992 World Series.
Sid is an avid outdoorsman and loves to talk about God’s awesome handprint across this world. Sid shares a message that all can understand and how his accomplishments in baseball pale in comparison to his relationship with Jesus Christ. Sid has been on hunts all over North America, hunting with a bow predominantly, for Elk, Moose, Buffalo, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Antelope, Caribou, Dall Sheep and Black Bear.
He has also ventured to Africa twice to hunt plains game with his bow that include, Kudu, Gemsbok, Nyala, Springbok, Blesbok, Zebra and Bushbuck.
